Our home is the only place that gives us peace and quiet like no other. It is a place where we escape for relaxation and rejuvenation. Although a house is made up of many rooms that are used for different purposes, a living room in a house is a place that is like the center of the house.
It is a space that is used for a number of things, including entertaining guests, hosting parties and chatting with family, watching TV, just sitting, relaxing, reading a book, and so on. It is a special space as we have time to connect not only with our family but also with our friends.
There are several things to consider when working in the living room. The size is one of the most important aspects as this will be the basis for our furniture planning. Another important decision is the color scheme. Soft and natural shades are the safest choice. We can also choose between classic shades like beige and other earth tones or modern shades like maroon, green, purple, blue etc. mixed with white and black.
Also, if we want this room to be energetic and active, we can choose bright colors like red, orange, yellow. If we want to create a more relaxing and calm space then soft colors like cream, ivory, light blue, purple etc. can be chosen.
Next, it is necessary to determine the purpose of the living room. For example, whether we only want to use it for the family or whether we also want to use this space for contacts with friends. If the answer is sooner, a cozy and warm way of designing can be done with comfortable furniture and soft carpets. In the latter case, a formal establishment with adequate seating arrangements would be advisable
Once the purpose is established, the next step is to properly place the furniture in the room, such as the sofa set, center table, chairs, end tables, sofa, etc., as this will go a long way in making the room feel more welcoming. Before we begin, however, we need to decide on the center of gravity of the room as the furniture is usually placed either around it or in front of it.
A focal point can be anything like a nice bookcase, a nice view, a fireplace, mantelpiece, a beautiful piece of art, or even a television. After deciding on the center of gravity, furniture should generally be placed so that the seating is close together so that everyone can sit together and chat comfortably instead of talking about the room. Still, there should be seating to ensure that there is enough space for people to walk around the room without any problems.
After putting the furniture in place, you have to think a lot about it to make the place feel inviting and personable. Lighting plays a vital role in dressing up any place. So we have to decide whether we want soft lamps and shades that make a place cozy and calming, or large chandeliers and designer lights to give the place a classy touch.
This is of course a personal decision, but it can also be made taking into account the use of the space. Upholstery is another essential criterion. It should always complement the color of the walls, as this will increase the beauty of the room.
Matching fabrics, either in the same or in contrasting colors, are of the utmost importance if you want to be on the safe side. Otherwise, a playful selection of colors can be made as every place looks lively. Whether it’s the drapes, the drapes, or even the carpets, they help transform a place immensely.
They add to the overall feel of the place, so they should be selected taking into account the shadows of the upholstery and walls. They can even be used as partitions to create a separate space.
The living room is a space to play around with when it comes to decorative items. A beautiful painting, fancy lights, or even an attractive piece of wood can add charm, grace and depth to the interior of a living room. Depending on our preferences and interests, we can use different objects to furnish our room.
For example, if you like fresh flowers, a bouquet of beautiful and colorful flowers in an ornate vase can be the center of attraction, or a memorial wall made up of old, new or whatever photos and framed in different shapes and sizes are one excellent idea to beautify our living room and give it a personal touch.
Nothing makes a place more charming and welcoming than a pleasant smell. Appearance is important, of course, but an alluring scent takes the effect of the place to a whole new and different level.
Smell is such a powerful sense that it can even affect our mood and behavior. A fragrant place always feels fresh and clean. So we should definitely make sure that our home, especially our living room, as it is the most used one and people keep coming and going, remains wonderfully scented.
There are a variety of home fragrance products on the market, ranging from man-made items such as aerosol sprays, plug-ins, fragrance blocks, sachets and sacks to natural products based on the goodness of aromatherapy such as essential oil burners, scented candles, potpourri, etc.
While both products are useful, man-made products only mask the air for a few hours and are also harmful. Therefore, it makes more sense to use natural products as they create a healthier atmosphere. Another advantage of these products is that they are generally decorative, so they look nice in any home. They complement the interior of every house and underline its aesthetics.
Our home speaks volumes about our personalities and tastes as it reflects us, our habits and our lifestyle. The design and interior represent who we are. Hence, immense care should be taken when furnishing a home, especially the living room, as it is a space that is generally used for entertaining our family and friends and therefore should be furnished to suit our tastes and preferences .
Ultimately, however, it doesn’t matter whether our home is cozy and comfortable or trendy and modern or small and cozy or large and stately. It is crucial that it is always warm and inviting.
