Children are the greatest asset in a person’s life. So why not make your room the cutest and coziest corner of our house? Decorating children’s rooms should be a well-planned and fun process, the result of which will overwhelm teenagers with beauty. However, buying fancy and playful furniture will not be enough – we need to make the place safe and functional!
So look beyond cuteness and playfulness. It can be a challenging job. So we encourage you to consider our advice and ideas for nursery furniture before you begin:
Think about what children want

Children have their own view of the world and begin to develop their own interests at the age of three. If you are not designing a baby room, then you should think about their wishes and opinions. Of course, you shouldn’t blindly follow their irrational decisions, but rather think about whether they are really feasible.
Talk to your children and try to find out which colors, shapes, cartoon heroes or hobbies they are most fond of. and options will present themselves. The internet and inspiring magazines are also great sources of ideas.
Adjust the selection to suit your budget

One of the reasons we said kids room decor is equally important to any other room decor is price. Children’s rooms can cost a small fortune if you’ve decided to make every wish come true. As with other purchases, the price depends on the size and quality.
Before you begin, think about how much you could or should spend. Once you have circled an amount, see what you can get for it. If you are on a modest budget, you shouldn’t compromise on functionality. and choose permanent items. Don’t lose focus on the fact that kids are growing beyond their interests and asking for a new room before you expect it.
Safety is your number one priority

Safety is the most correct answer to the question of how to choose furniture for children’s rooms. It is your priority and the main factor influencing your choice. For example, furniture should be rounded rather than sharp so that children don’t get injured while playing.
Exposing leads in the items can also be dangerous. So try to avoid this. Remember, children cannot really gauge the danger. It’s your job to protect them!
Choose a theme

If you want your child’s room to be their little kingdom, choose a theme they like and enjoy. With the help of themes, children’s rooms can be turned into castles and movie scenes. and combine practicality with attractiveness. It is essential to consult children here; and to choose colors and themes that they would enjoy. Once you have this guideline, choosing furniture is easy and quick.
Finding a compromise on colors can be a little tricky: Ultimately, there is no way to convince a little strawberry fan that flashy red is not good for the eyes. If so, choose a third neutral option. and just add a few items in the specific color your child likes.
Don’t pay too much attention to matching colors and shapes – your child’s room is the only place where creative chaos is absolutely allowed!
Look at the healthy side of the materials

Again, security shouldn’t be compromised by price or fashion. Children should be surrounded by hypoallergic, natural and non-toxic materials. because their susceptibility to allergies is much higher than yours.
Base the design project on age

First of all, do not decorate for yourself. They decorate for a “brave king” or a “beautiful princess” who are not really interested in elegance and sophistication. You need a place to sleep, play, and store the stacks of toys you’ve bought.
Second, a year or two in childhood means a lot more than a year in adulthood. Your child grows day by day and the change of interests does not stand back. This means that the furniture you bought today may not be suitable in the near future (especially beds and chairs).

So choose larger and more durable parts that will stay in your children’s lives for at least 5 years.
As you would expect, durable furniture costs more. However, it’s normal to make an investment in parts that will take a child out of crib into their teenage years (typically even less than the amount you would spend changing furniture multiple times). As this makes you feel better, think about the affection you feel when you see a photo from your own room. Worth it!
Be ready for updates

As I said, children will outgrow their size and interests. and there will always be a need to change something around them. Plus, children are naughty; and it is very likely that they will break that wonderful wooden table that you are spending a fortune on.
One of the cutest changes that can happen is a newborn baby. This is exactly why children’s rooms should be spacious and be able to accommodate new furniture.
Provide serious storage space

Storage furniture is very important in children’s rooms. Remember that kids have hundreds of toys, stacks of clothes, books, exercise equipment, games, or art projects? Sounds confusing doesn’t it? Children get very emotional with their stuff, so don’t go so far as to expect them to give up their fortune!
Therefore, it may be the right time to think about large wardrobes, multiple dressers and drawers under the bed.
Play space

Don’t pile your child’s room with cubes and unnecessary cupboards. Children need space to play and run; and will be much safer if you don’t have to jump over chairs.
Conclusion

The most important rule when decorating a children’s room is the balance between functionality and personal appearance. The decor of the room depends on creativity and budget, but needs to resemble a style that your children will like and enjoy. The more they like it, the more likely they are to keep it and not ask for a new one.
Then … don’t we all hang our best memories on our rooms?
Comfort comes after functionality. A child spends a lot of time in space and it is there that they carry out their most important activities. Hence, you need to make sure that it feels comfortable and motivated.
Still, nothing would be really worth the effort if it weren’t for security. Try to predict each risk. and buying furniture that is likely to prevent this. Basically, this means no corners, no sharp edges and no heavy loose objects.
