The beautiful mansion is located above Will Rogers State Park in LA in the Pacific Palisades. Watching the sun set or rise is the experience of a lifetime. The canyon view should be listed as one of the most unique in Los Angeles. The view from the Chautauqua Residence is enthusiastically received by the entire community, and of course no one declines an invitation to take a tour of this architectural masterpiece.
The property owner, a mature man who collects rare books, wanted a house that had views of the canyon from as many rooms as possible. And that’s exactly how William Hefner designed the residence.
When you enter the Great Room, through the large windows, you can feel the canyon around you and hug you while still looking at the beauty that surrounds you. Through the large room to the rear you get outside onto the terrace and the pool. The pool will surprise you with its rectangular shape that extends further and further to the edge of the cliff, very cool! The black spiral staircase is on the right and offers another surprise as you just don’t see it right away.
The upper floor surrounds the mansion with unique bedrooms and bathrooms, all with spectacular views from the huge windows.
The Chautauqua Residence is one of William Hefner’s most popular designs. The creation of Chautauqua came together as beautifully as the residence itself. The owner still often uses the mansion to see his family and has no desire to give it up.
