Alta architecture created this Melbourne home using an interesting mix of design principles. The shape of the house looks surprisingly classic from the outside, as part of the roof has a triangular prism shape.
The roof is otherwise made in angular sections. Some large parts of the roof are painted black while others are painted white, giving it an almost checkered look.
The checkered black and white color scheme on the outside is in line with the black and white color scheme on the inside, particularly in terms of the bedding, furniture and walls.
The house has an almost modern Gothic look to it and gives it a stylish yet somber tone throughout its grounds. The furniture has a polished look that compliments the interior very well. Each room is large, but the rooms do not seem overly spacious.
The house feels cozy and reserved, yet offers plenty of additional space.
The staircase of this Melbourne home has a really unique look. The railings are elongated and extend upwards to the point where they almost form an extra wall around the stairs.
Residents can still hold on to the railings, but there is no rail to grab. The stairs and the surrounding area are otherwise very plain and simple, in stark contrast to the dramatic color scheme of the rest of the house.
The outside area surrounding the house is so simple that it does not take focus from the impressive house itself.
