If I were to design my own home, I would consider the amount of natural light that each room would receive. It seems that modern architects are doing just that, focusing more on windows and less on walls. My house would be uniquely shaped and not a box with evenly spaced windows like suburban houses.
According to the lighting theme, I would use extremely light colors in every room. For me, creating a bright white kitchen with large windows that let in lots of sunlight and greenery from the outside is the perfect way to create a calm and relaxed atmosphere.
After designing homes for centuries to protect ourselves from nature, we are now finding ways to incorporate the beauty of nature into our homes and still protect ourselves. The ability to see trees, flowers and sunlight from our living rooms is the perfect reminder of the importance of getting outside and enjoying the fresh air.
